Insurance Outfitters® Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Shepherdstown, West Virginia, February 24, 2019 – Insurance Outfitters® will celebrate its 30th anniversary on March 3, 2019. Insurance Outfitters® is an independent family-owned insurance planning practice serving Shepherdstown, West Virginia, and West Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley – Jefferson and Berkeley Counties

Insurance Outfitters® was founded by 24-year-old Tom Maiden in 1989. “I wanted to create a firm that was new and unique in the insurance industry. I wanted to create a firm that was built around insurance planning and advice versus product sales,” said Tom Maiden.

Since its establishment, Insurance Outfitters® has grown from a one-person practice to a team of motivated high achievers committed to delivering innovative and tailored risk management solutions to protect individuals, organizations and businesses. Insurance Outfitters® was closed on February 11, 2008 and reopened on August 1, 2009 while Ton Maiden, a Navy Reserve officer, was deployed to Iraq.

In 2015, Michele Ours Maiden, Tom’s wife, joined Insurance Outfitters® and is now its CEO. Tom, who is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional, focuses on the financial planning needs of the firm’s thousands of clients. The tagline for Insurance Outfitters® is “Locally Inspired Insurance® “and its mascot is a lovable black Labrador retriever named Sailor.

According to Michele Maiden, “The growth and success of Insurance Outfitters® would not have been possible without the honesty, integrity, competence, and diligence or our guides (our name for employees) who can be counted on to act in our client’s best interest.”
